Growth Media

A proper growth medium is essential to giving seedlings or cuttings the right start. Prolonged, vigorous plant growth requires a good nutrient balance, achieved through good quality soil, or lower-quality soil improved with the use of compost, peat or peat moss, manure, bone meal or other natural additives. Fertilizers may also be used, though should be limited to very specific circumstances: good, healthy soil will not require them.
