Painted leaf begonia

Begonia rex

Plants of Home and Garden

Propagate by leaf cuttings: cut leaf into 1" squares and insert sections half-way into sterile growing medium, with outermost edges pointing up, or lay them flat on this medium. A large leaf may be pinned flat onto moist soil, after making small incisions 1" apart across major veins on underside of leaf. The old leaf disintigrates as new plantlets root. Personally, I prefer the very first technique

Keep warm, humid, good indirect light. Well-draining medium, water and feed regularly in summer, decreasing water and eliminating fertilization in winter

Begonia (Begonia species)
Eyelash begonia (Begonia bowerae)
Non-stop pink begonia, tuberous hybrid begonia (Begonia x tuberhybrida, Begonia tuberhybrida)
Rhizomatous begonia, fibrous-rooted begonia, tuberous begonia ()
Tuberous begonia (Begonia tuberosa)
Wax begonia (Begonia semperflorens)
