Sow in spring, as early as possible, 4-6 lb/1000 sq ft or 2-3 kg/100 sq m; prefers cool, moist growing season, then warmth to ripen. Winter wheat is sown in late summer or early fall, depending on the area, and is less drought-tolerant. Triticum turgidum, or bearded wheat, is grown in the same manner as regular spring-grown wheat
